Stefan Ludes completed his studies in architecture and sculpture at the technical university in Aachen.
At the center of his work is the human being: the human figure, but also the imaginative connection between the artwork, space, and viewer. Partly tectonic-cubist, partly expressive in form language, his sculptures create tension-filled, often contrasting perspectives in relation to their surroundings.
Often, it is also about spatial perception and the interplay of art and architecture with nature. The park of the Villa Jacobs in Potsdam, for example, is a landscape total work of art that owes its existence to Stefan Ludes' work — according to the historical guidelines of Peter Joseph Lenné.
The painting and photography of his work is primarily designed graphically with an emphasis on special structures and materials. Representation and perception of space and light also play a central role here. They are the connecting elements between partly artificial forms.
