Stefan Ludes’ first solo-exhibition in France displays his most recent bodies of work, comprising sculpture, painting and edition photography.

Stefan Ludes takes the human being as his measure: proportions, the engagement with the body, and the many facets of the human psyche shape the work of the artist, who lives and works in Berlin and Potsdam. Observations of nature and abstract graphic considerations flow into his practice. Behind the Scenes brings together various bodies of work from the past three years. Ludes’ sculptural works are complemented by paintings and calligraphies whose gestural expressiveness seeks an emotional dimension beyond formal articulation. Another focus of the exhibition is a series of photographic editions that translate the artist’s contemplations of nature into semi-abstract, intensely colored pictorial spaces. What emerges is less an image of the natural world than a behind the scenes—an expression of an inner state.
